How do you prefer to travel?
The simplest answer would, of course, be: 'Business Class'...... but for me it's not so much a style preference as what it takes to get you to the exciting places you want to see. When I think back about modes of travel there have been some comfortable... some not so much... but all have taken us to some unforgettable places. There was the bouncing beaten up passenger van in Cambodia that took us over possibly the worst roads in the world to see the wonders of Ankor Wat, and the luxury of the cruise shop that took us to amazing places around the Baltic Sea, the beauty of St Petersburg and the Vasa Museum in Stockholm.
There was a felucca at sunset on the River NIle, drifting by pyramids and temples and a river boat on the Yangtze in China to see the beauties of the Three Gorges before the Gehzouba Dam changed the landscape for ever. A comfortable train took us on the longest straight stretch of railway in the world across the Australian bush and a hard bunk in a rattling night train in China took us to Xian and the Terra Cotta Warriors. A tiny plane took us to fly by Mount Everest in Nepal, a hot air balloon to see the Fairy Chimmneys in Cappadocia, and huge aeroplanes have taken us around the world.
We have ridden elephants at dawn in the long grasses of Chitwan Park to see rhinocerus and 4 wheel drive jeeps in Africa to see lions... we really have seen some incredible sights and the preferred mode of travel?.. the one that gets you there!
