What is your best advice when it comes to raising children?

Two things come to mind immediately. The first is to treat each child equally. Unfortunately it is all too easy for a parent to indulge in favouritism, or at least the perception of favouritism by the other siblings, and over the years this can become a real source of friction. Of course there is no way of entirely avoiding it as an issue except by trying to recognise that it might occur so everything has, in my mind, to be tested against " how will the others see this action?

". This is particularly true of matters financial and it is something I work hard at achieving, but to what extent I have succeeded I don't know. I guess my motto is "Don't do for one child what you won't do for all". The second piece of advice would be try to avoid making idle promises.

Try to avoid this like the plague as it might come back to haunt you. Only use the word promise when it is something that you can deliver! Dad Joel Great advice!
