How has the country changed during your lifetime?

I feel a little schizophrenic about this one.... because part of me thinks how much has changed in the UK where I grew up and the other part of me thinks about changes here in Canada since 1969. It is easier to see the changes in Britain, because we go back after a gap in time remembering things as they were before. You adapt to changes that happen round about you in your daily life and they seem to get absorbed imperceptibly. In Britain I would say the biggest change is how very populous it has become and how the towns and cities have grown and the roads become so much busier- the pace of life seems so much more frenetic.

Here in Canada we have deliberately taken a step away from city living, though it would be easy to see that Vancouver has also grown and become busier. The biggest change everywhere in everyday life is the growth of technology and communications, to a level that would have been beyond imagining fifty years ago. I wonder what the next fifty will bring?
