What have been some of your lifes greatest surprises?
Life is a series of surprises, isn't it?...so it is hard to pick the 'greatest', and by and large I am not someone who looks forward to 'surprises', my upbringing was too presbyterian I think! I remember when my Dad turned up with my 5th birthday present, a tortoise, which I named Jimmy. I recall him standing on the doorstep at our house in Whitley Bay and just being blown away by that surprise. Another life changing surprise was when Dad suggested we might get married, I was in no way expecting that one!
Much later on after Julianne had been travelling solo in the Middle East and had ended up in Turkey at the time of '9/11'... we were expecting her back in Campbell River but not sure of a timetable. I was in my office at work and it was dark already when a face appeared at my window, lovely surprise. Not only appeared but she had shaved her hair off... now THAT was a surprise! I' ve just thought of one more, when Dad & I had our 40th wedding anniversary and an elaborate scheme was concocted by all of you to surprise us with a weeked at a luxury resort on Pender Island - that was amazing.
All great surprises:-)
