What were you like when you were 40?

I was 40 in 1986 - Expo year in Vancouver where we lived, an amazing summer that lasted from May through until November. Jennie was 4 and in afternoon preschool, Julianne seven in Grade1 I imagine, Joanna nine and in Grade 3 and Joel ten going on eleven in Grade 5,.... so those were busy days with a young family. Dad was self employed in his consulting business and often out of town for long stretches, consulting in rural communities around BC. So I was often on my own holding the fort.....

I was also working.. I think at that time I did casual work at VGH and in the community. I had had a regular job at the Grace Hospital....but found I just couldn't juggle all the family needs and a job so made the decision to go casual instead, a bit easier to structure work hours around all the other committments. I remember my girl friends had a dinner party for my birthday and gave me a beautiful standard fuschia which survived on our front porch for a few years.......I also went to England with Maggie Weeks and we went to a high school reunion in Bromley, interesting to see what everyone had made of their post school years.

I guess Dad must have kept everything going at home while I was gone. What was I like?...BUSY
