What were you like when you were 50?
Well, you ‘kids’ were 20, 18,17 and 14 when I was 50. I wonder if you remember what YOU were doing in 1996? I was working full time at the Campbell River Hospital, ‘managing’ the Physio. Department and also working a case load because there were never enough staff… same story there today… that hasn’t changed.
Julianne and Jennie were at home, Jules at Carihi, Jennie still at Phoenix. Dad & I had a trip to Maui to get away from it all - our first leaving teenagers at home - I think there were some shenanigans back home which I only recently heard about!!! Joel was at UBC - and Joanna 1st year UVic - both back in Canada after their respective years in the UK in 1995. Busy times… we still had good old Emma and I was training for the London Marathon, often ran home from work to get my training miles in.
Joel had challenged me to complete it, on my 50th birthday - April 21. 1996 after his epic completion in 1995. I thought, if he could do it, surely so could I! Mum still lived in Bexhill, Grandpa was in Wolverhampton, Grandma Burslem had died in 1995 so Dad & I were still doing our regular trips across the Atlantic. Auntie Sheila and I both completed the Marathon that year and had supporters all around the course which was amazing.
I guess I haven’t really answered the question ‘ what was I like? ‘. You all probably have better answers to that than I do!
